Edinburgh Vaults

While on holiday in Edinburgh, we were lucky enough to have a private showing around some parts of the famous Edinburgh Vaults. It was around 10am and was a dry, bright, 24 degrees outside; (Yes, it was dry and sunny in Scotland) but below the streets of Edinburgh, it was a different story. It was extremely dark, musty and damp.

As soon as we entered we got a feeling that things were not right. It wasn’t long till things started to happen.  We heard movement; witnessed shadows but the most bizarre of all was around 15 mins in to the walk around. Two different people turned as they heard a noise only to see what they both thought to be a person running past them, heading to the next room.  Both went to investigate, but nothing, not a soul was around.  At first, we thought that it could have been someone on a tour, or even one of the Mercat Staff, but to get into the vaults, there is only one entrance.

We also heard lots of noises. We attributed them to sounds travelling from the street above and other area's of the vaults which a lot of other business use above and around our location.

As do all good ghost hunters, we thought we would return later on in the day to see if we saw and heard the same things, but no. This time we witnessed a image, (shadow like) of someone running through the group with a lantern. Again we followed and again nothing at the end..

We here at GI5, believe that this could be one of the most exciting investgations in the UK. We're looking into visiting the Edinburgh Vaults in 2010 for one 'big investigation.' If you feel that you'd like to join us, then email us a enquiry@gi5.co.uk .
